Recap: Bike Month 2024

May 22, 2024 4:00 pm

Bike Month Send-Off

On May 22nd, Commute Seattle celebrated Bike Month with a mini festival in Lake Union Park, to prepare everyone for a summer of active commuting. Sponsored by Lime, the event had a huge turn-out with over 350 people stopping by!  We got a chance to meet afternoon commuters and hear their personal experiences about cycling in Seattle. Our partners arrived in full force to support us and spread the good news of what is happening and on the horizon in the Seattle transit world: SDOT gave insights into upcoming projects and helmet codes, King County Metro spoke about the future RapidRide J Line and related bike infrastructure upgrades, and Cascade Bicycle Club gave cyclists an opportunity to build community and promote their upcoming rides. Lime gave out discounted ride codes and free helmets, and Mello Fellos offered easy bike fixes. Everyone enjoyed free Sunrise Tacos and complimentary drinks and had a chance to win awesome bike-related giveaways and transit swag from our prize wheel!

We were thrilled by the enthusiastic turnout as evidenced by the continuously overflowing bike racks during the entire event! Thank you to all who came out to celebrate Bike Month, active commuting, and bike safety. Let’s keep this momentum moving forward year-round!
