On January 22, Commute Seattle welcomed a roomful of Building Transportation Coordinators (BTCs) and other building management professionals to “Peer Perspectives on Transportation Management Programs,” one of our two annual educational events for property managers in partnership with the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).
Three panelists shared their experiences managing their building’s Transportation Management Program (TMP). Certain buildings within the city of Seattle have a TMP, which is a master use permit intended to reduce drive alone rates to properties by promoting the full range of travel options to tenants and employees, including transit, walking, carpooling, and bicycling. Our panelists represented a diverse array of buildings – from mixed-use to healthcare to retail – each with its own unique set of challenges. They shared successes in improving building culture around transportation, adaptations to help boost survey participation, and different strategies to reach a large and diverse audience of tenants. Following the presentations, Ellie Smith, Senior Transportation Planner at SDOT led a Q&A discussion.
Our bi-annual events give Property Managers affected by TMPS’s the opportunity to learn from one another and get connected to resources and programs that help them successfully meet their program requirements. We were joined by resource partners from Seattle City Light’s Multifamily EV Charging and Fleet Electrification programs and the ORCA Multifamily Development Passport who shared more information about their programs with attendees.
Special thanks to our panelists, to our partner SDOT, and to all who came out and made this event such a success!
