Each November as the days grow shorter, Commute Seattle hosts our annual Light Up Your Trip event to celebrate staying safe, seen, and moving all winter long.
This year, we joined our partner organization, the Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) and Metropolitan Improvement District (MID), in Westlake Park under the sparkling holiday lights.
Attendees enjoyed free hot cocoa and chai from Bloom Coffee and free bike adjustments from Mello Fello Bike Repair. Our event partners SDOT, Sound Transit, and MID Ambassadors provided resources to attendees including bike lights, maps, reflective gear, and information about the downtown Safewalk program.
As the days grow darker, it is important to reiterate that it is the responsibility of drivers to drive with care and look out for pedestrians and cyclists on roads, sidewalks, and intersections. Staying visible with lights and reflective gear is an important step that active commuters can take to keep safe and keep moving throughout the year.
