On April 16, Commute Seattle welcomed a roomful of Building Transportation Coordinators (BTCs) and other building management professionals to “Beyond the Blueprint: Understanding and Advancing Your Transportation Management Program,” one of our two annual educational events for property managers in partnership with the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).
In this workshop style event, our Transportation Specialist gave attendees an overview of Transportation Management Programs (TMPs) in Seattle. Certain buildings within the city have a TMP, which is a master use permit intended to reduce drive alone rates to properties by promoting the full range of travel options to tenants and employees, including transit, walking, carpooling, and bicycling. After this overview, Elizabeth led a group discussion about common elements found in many TMPs – parking, active transportation amenities, education & engagement, and SOV goals. Our attendees shared strategies they found were successful, challenges they faced, and some other emerging topics and how they were handling them. After the event, many stayed after to chat and have coffee with others to learn more about an idea they heard that resonated with them.
Our bi-annual events give Property Managers affected by TMPs the opportunity to learn from one another and get connected to resources and programs that help them successfully meet their program requirements.
Special thanks to our panelists, to our partner SDOT, and to all who came out and made this event such a success!
